Meet Our Founder

Derrick Dickerson was born on November 23, 1961, an African American man whose life journey would ultimately become a testimony of redemption, faith, and purpose. From an early age, his aspirations were shaped and inspired by his father, Willie Dickerson, who instilled in him the values of resilience, hard work, and belief in something greater than himself.
Like many powerful stories of transformation, Derrick’s path was not without struggle. He endured seasons of hardship, including a period of incarceration that could have defined his future. Instead, it became the turning point that reshaped it. During that time, Derrick deepened his faith in God, and through prayer and reflection, he began to see a new vision for his life — one rooted in service, restoration, and leadership. God revealed to him a greater calling: to help other men overcome the very obstacles he once faced.
In 1999, Derrick stepped forward in faith and founded the nonprofit organization that would go on to change countless lives. What began as a vision has become a movement of hope across California. Through mentorship, accountability, spiritual guidance, and structured support, Derrick has helped men rebuild their lives — not just for the short term, but for lasting transformation.
Over the years, he has received multiple awards and recognitions from the City of Bakersfield for his dedication and impact. Today, Derrick Dickerson is more than a founder — he is a pillar in the community, a testament to second chances, and a living example that with faith, commitment, and purpose, lives can be restored and futures rewritten.
His legacy is not only measured by awards, but by the men who now walk in stability, faith, and independence because someone once believed in them — just as he once learned to believe in himself.
